Eligibility Criteria for India Post GDS 2026

1. Educational Qualification

• Candidates must possess a Secondary School Examination (SSE) pass certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in Mathematics and English from any recognized Board of School Education.
• The candidate must have studied the local language of the respective postal circle/division at least up to the 10th standard.
• Special Language Provisions: Specific local language/dialect conditions apply to candidates applying for vacancies in Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Sikkim, and Nagaland.

2. Other Essential Qualifications

• Knowledge of computers.
• Knowledge of cycling (ability to ride a bicycle/two-wheeler).

• Tie-Breaking Rule: In case of a tie between candidates, priority is determined based on date of birth (older candidate ranked higher), followed by community and gender hierarchy (ST trans-woman, ST female, SC trans-woman, SC female, OBC trans-woman, OBC female, EWS trans-woman, EWS female, UR trans-woman, UR female, and male categories accordingly).
• Physical Verification of Documents: Shortlisted candidates must appear before the Engaging Authority (Divisional/Unit Head) within 15 days of result declaration with all original certificates and two sets of self-attested photocopies.
