Municipal Accountant Qualifications & Age Limit

1. Educational Qualification

• Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in B.Com, BBA, BCA, B.Sc (Mathematics/Statistics), or B.A. (Statistics/Economics/Mathematics) from a recognized university.
• Basic knowledge of computer operations (CCC or equivalent) is required.
• Candidates appearing in their final semester/year degree exam are also eligible for the Preliminary Exam. (Note: Candidates holding B.Sc. / M.Sc. in CA & IT are not eligible for this cadre).

2. Age Limit (As on 21/08/2026)

• Minimum Age: 20 Years
• Maximum Age: 35 Years
• Age Relaxations:
  • General Female Candidates: +5 Years (Max 40 Years)
  • Reserved Category Male Candidates: +5 Years (Max 40 Years)
  • Reserved Category Female Candidates: +10 Years (Max 45 Years)
  • PwD / Ex-Servicemen: As per government rules.

GSSSB Municipal Accountant Salary Structure

Selected candidates will receive a fixed monthly salary of ₹49,600/- for the first 5 years. Upon successful completion of 5 years of regular service, candidates are placed in Pay Matrix Level-7 (Pay Scale: ₹39,900 to ₹1,26,600) along with standard allowances.

Municipal Accountant Class 3 Syllabus & Exam Pattern

The recruitment consists of a 2-stage competitive examination process:

1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type – 150 Marks)

• Exam Mode: OMR / CBRT
• Duration: 2 Hours (120 Minutes)
• Total Questions: 150 MCQs (1 Mark each)
• Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer
• Qualifying Standard: Minimum 40% marks required
• Syllabus Topics: General Studies (20 Marks), General Mental Ability (10 Marks), Gujarati Grammar (10 Marks), English Grammar (10 Marks), Mathematics & Statistics, Financial Accounting, Cost/Management Accounting, Income Tax & GST, Auditing, Economics & Public Administration.

2. Main Examination (Descriptive Type – 200 Marks)

• Paper 1 (Language): Gujarati Language (50 Marks) + English Language (50 Marks) — 3 Hours.
• Paper 2 (Core Subject): Accountancy, Auditing, Tax, and Commercial Law — 100 Marks (3 Hours).
• Final Selection: Strictly based on the descriptive marks scored in the Main Examination.

  • Preliminary Exam: ₹500
  • Main Exam: ₹600

• Fee Refund: Examination fee is 100% refundable to all candidates who appear in the examination.
